Odyssey, Ody/Penny(/any), i'm coming home OR safe and sound

Iliad, Hector/Helen, little talks OR I'm with you*

*I just had to correct the capitalisation on that one :P

ETA Thank God UKIP didn't get in. Ireland's relationship with England would definitely go downhill if they did.

I shall get on those as soon as possible! :DD

And, god, I think England's relationship with England would've gone very sharply downhill if UKIP had done any better than it did... Their whole thing really just puzzles me. The assumption that there's right British folk, and wrong British folk. Literally everybody I know has some immigrant in them. My own family, up to my parents, is largely made up of Irish immigrants. My SO has family from all over. My best friend in secondary school was Indian, and lovely! What gives?

But, then, I've never understood why we should be anti-immigration anyway...

I don't understand it, either. If immigrants are gone entirely, who will the Daily Fail blame for all the world's ills? :P

FILL: Lionheart [The Iliad - Homer, Hector/Helen, PG]
He’s the only person she can actually talk to here, and she should be sad about that – sad to go from a beautiful queen that everybody wanted a piece of to a bad smell that everybody would rather disappeared – but she’s never been one for moping. Not that Hector is anything to mope about, anyway – he’s smart, he’s kind, and he has a wicked sense of humour that often leaves her snorting. In most ways, as a matter of fact, he’s actually a step up from the grunting thugs who stared endlessly at her boobs or the whispering matrons who judged her ceaselessly for something that she simply couldn’t help.

Definitely a step up, she thinks as he smiles down at her and her heart flutters properly for the first time in years.

Re: FILL: Lionheart [The Iliad - Homer, Hector/Helen, PG]
I love this - and yes she'd have to be excruciatingly dim not to notice her shift in popularity, and I can't remember anyone addressing it before :)

How's the new place shaping up?

Re: FILL: Lionheart [The Iliad - Homer, Hector/Helen, PG]
Thank you! :D

We should be moving in at the end of June, as long as they don't mess anything up. So far everything seems to be going well, though! :D

I'm glad to hear it!

Yay for exams being over! (Also I'm curious to know about what happened with that estate agent... *can't mind her own business*)

Allllso: Barry/Len (any canon) with 6. falling down

I shall get on that soon! :D

And haha, no problem! It's actually a fairly nice story, for once. Basically we saw a quite nice flat yesterday, one that had been on the market for several months apparently, and decided that we wanted to take it. The guy showing us around seemed quite pleased about this, and put us in contact with the agency that he worked for. So we toddled down there after my partner finished work, perfectly happy to sign the contract and move in as soon as possible... And the rather rude lady in charge of negotiations basically took our details and made us feel like crap. I was a student, my partner was on a zero hour contract (basically meaning that he technically has no certain work, though he actually works full time), we were basically totally unsuitable and how dare we waste their time.

So, when we got out from that lovely tearing down, I immediately texted my parents in a very upset way. Which resulted in them going back to the estate agents with us this afternoon. We met the same lady as yesterday, but this time with the benefit of my dad. Who quite happily, and very politely, laid out all the reasons why she was wrong and basically got her to admit what a shitty estate agents they were.

We still don't have a flat, so it isn't quite as positive as it could've been, but we got to cut an estate agent down to size. And, after she basically made my partner miserable for reasons he can't actually help, that was almost satisfaction enough. ^^

BITCH! I fucking HATE zero hours contracts for reasons like this among other things. They should be abolished and burned on the pile of Bad Ideas People Have >:(

I hope that Estate Agent is on a zero hours contract herself.
May. 9th, 2015 08:20 am (UTC)
It's the main reason I'm a little annoyed that the Tories got back in, actually! They seem to be the only party which don't believe that zero hour contracts are a bad idea and should be stopped... Because they really are. My lovely partner works full time hours, and yet because he's technically on a zero hour contract apparently he can be judged by a snooty bitch who thinks that it's a good idea to throw stones while standing in a glass house. >:(

Ugh. I'm so glad we got to shake her, though. After she made us both feel like shit it seems only fair...
May. 10th, 2015 11:52 am (UTC)
Ugh, if they believe so strongly people are going to ~waste their time~ they should ask for that sort of details before wasting YOUR time by showing you around and then later refusing you a contract, what the hell )o) (also that zero hour contract thing sounds like total bullshit, wow... I'm glad your partner does in fact get enough work hours anyway :|)
May. 12th, 2015 09:19 am (UTC)
I know, right! It was especially annoying because we'd already walked two miles to get to that property, and then had to walk all the way into town only to be told that we were ~unworthy~. >:( It was a really shitty thing to do. And, as we pointed out to them, they're losing two good customers (always pay the rent on time, have never trashed a place) due to what can only be described as snobbery.

(It is bullshit, and yet alarmingly common in the UK. Pretty much everybody I know is against it, and yet a small portion of posh dicks - who could probably survive with no job - think that it's a good idea so APPARENTLY WE HAVE TO KEEP THEM. yay. :|)

FILL: Most Peculiar (Most Human) [The Flash (TV), Leonard Snart/Barry Allen, PG]
“You’re damn good at falling over your own feet for a speedster, kid.”

“Shut up,” Barry mutters, turning an even brighter shade of red. He’s been around the block a few times, seen a lot of folk if you catch his drift, but he’s never met anybody who can blush quite like Barry can – he puts even tomatoes to shame.

He puts more things than that to shame, to be perfectly honest. He’s met a few prostitutes, honest working girls who are paid to flush, who could never do what Barry does so guilelessly. It’s just his luck, he supposes, that the guy who’s supposed to be his nemesis can get him hotter by accident than any person who’s actually tried.

“Don’t worry about it,” he sighs, shakes his head. There’ll be ample time to bemoan his luck later, if Lisa doesn’t shoot him first, “though I have to say, Barry, you could’ve just asked.”

“For me to kiss it better.”

And Barry burns even brighter, so much brighter that absolutely everything seems worth it all at once.

Re: FILL: Most Peculiar (Most Human) [The Flash (TV), Leonard Snart/Barry Allen, PG]
Oh, Barry, you adorable thing. I'm sure if he put an actual effort into it, he could turn all villains into good people just by making them think they would have a chance with him.

Re: FILL: Most Peculiar (Most Human) [The Flash (TV), Leonard Snart/Barry Allen, PG]
Thank you! And, yeah, he really could. I'm sure the majority of them would be perfectly happy giving up a life of crime in exchange for a few dates. ^^

Re: FILL: Most Peculiar (Most Human) [The Flash (TV), Leonard Snart/Barry Allen, PG]
I can imagine it perfectly...

[scene opens to a criminal holding a gun in his hand, while a police squad surrounds him with Joe and Eddie on front, their own guns trained on the criminal]
Criminal: Listen to me or I will detonated the bombs I planted all around the city! I have one simple request!
Joe: Spit it out already!
Criminal: I want... I want a date with the Flash!
[silence, Eddie throws his hand up in the air, some of the cops actually walk away shaking their head, Joe sighs and fishes his phone out of his pocket]
Joe: Yeah, hold on, I've got him on speed dial. This happens way too often...
Eddie: I don't know why I expected anything else.

*GIGGLESNORT* And so Barry fixes the Crime problem of Central City, with the careful use of polyamory...

FILL: The Way You Lie [The Flash (TV), Leonard Snart/Barry Allen, PG]
He prefers not to think of himself as a monster, but rather as differently moralled. Some people like saving others, some people just want to watch the world burn – why should he be painted in such a bad light, just because he’s naturally a little closer to the second option than the first?

…But then he sees Barry’s face, staring painfully up at him from the ground with a baffled question – why would a criminal betray a hero? Why would somebody who looked at me like that ever want to hurt me? – clear in his eyes.

He finds it a little harder to lie to himself, after that.
