Look, Ma, meme is on TV!

Stolen from classics_girl. I hope y'all appreciate my restraint in not making this entirely superhero shows.

1. The Flash (TV)
2. Star Trek: TNG
3. Justice League Cartoon
4. Agents of SHIELD
5. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

01. Who's your favourite character in 2?

OH MAN WHAT A QUESTION. Data, probably? Although both Geordi and Picard make very strong challenges, and Worf is also great.

02. Who's your least favourite character in 1?

Least favourite regular character? Probably Iris. Not because I dislike her, I really do like her!, but because she's been given less to do than pretty much all the other characters. Her main role seems to be to give Barry somebody to moon over, and I'd like her to do more than that Y'know?

(It doesn't help that Barry/Iris is my NOTP either. SHE'S YOUR SISTER, MAN!)

03. What's your favorite episode of 4?

Uh... Probably one of the ones near the end of season one, where the show massively rocketed in quality? The one where Ward - it's been over a year now but STILL SPOILERS - turns out to be HYDRA is particularly excellent.

(The one where May finally punches him in the face is also pretty damn great. I'm sorry Ward, I just don't really like you that much!)

04. What's your favourite season of 5?

I have watched half a season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine so far. So, that. ("I'M GONNA BE LATE TO THE FARMER'S MARKET!")

05. Who is your favourite ship in 3?

My answer is, possibly strangely, all of them. This is because I OT7 the League very firmly and just assume that when people are missing from an episode they're off having sex with each other. This is a perfectly logical conclusion, and I stand by it. ^^

(Individually I have quite a fondness for Flash/Batman, so that's my more specific answer if it is needed!)

06. Who is your anti-ship in 2?

Ummmmmmmm. Hm. I'm... Not sure that I have one? It's generally fairly rare for me to HAVE NOTPS, thinking about it, so... Hrm. Maybe Riker/most of his romances of the week? Because Star Trek, for all its strengths, was AWFUL at portraying romantic love.

(Troi and Crusher also got their fair share of this. And the episode where Data attempted a relationship was DIRE... As, for that matter, was the one(s) where Geordi did the same.

07. How long have you watched 1?

We started watching it the week before Christmas, powered through all the episodes we'd missed and are now fully up to date.

So, not that long! But I still love it to bits. ^^

08. How did you become interested in 3?

I got together with my SO. He discovered that I'd never watched the DCAU, went "WELL THEN" and embarked upon showing me all of the episodes/shows.

Needless to say, I'm enjoying it immensely. ^^

09. Who's your favorite actor/actress in 4?

OH MAN YOU'RE ASKING ME TO REMEMBER NAMES HAH... Ummmmmmmm. Probably the guy that plays Fitz? I loved him in season 1, but he's really come into his own lately.

10. Which do you prefer: Show 1, 2 or 5?

1. Because it's just so fun! And dorky! And I can watch it whatever mood I'm in, which is pretty darn great. ^^

11. Which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3?

UHHHHHH. I actually had to think about this! Probably Justice League, because there's more of it and they're mainly two parters so we can get through them quite quickly! I think we've watched 20 or so episodes so far? Which, yeah, is obviously more than the Flash has as of yet...

12. If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?

Saying that, though, I do over-identify with Skye absurdly - especially since the mid-season finale went down - so probably her. Because she's adorable! And awesome! And has EARTHQUAKE POWERS BITCHES! :DDDDD

13. How would you kill off your favorite character in 1?

Saying that, though... Uh. Probably in a rather dramatic way? Like, he has to save the day against impossible odds and sacrifices himself to do so. It would be very brave, and very sad. And would MEAN something to everybody.

And, hey, then they could introduce Wally West to the show! Until Barry inevitably came back, because he's a superhero and they're immortal. ^^

14. Give a random quote from 1?

"Lightning gave me abs?!" BARRY BABY~

15. Which character from 5 would be a good guest star on 2?

I have no idea but I kind of want this crossover now. BROOKLYN NINE-NINE IN SPACE! It would be excellent, NOTHING would go wrong! >:DDDDD

16. Would a 3/4 crossover work?

You know what? Yeah, yeah it would. Wonder Woman could give Skye a hug, Hawkgirl and Bobbi could be BFFs forever, May and Batman could angrily make out, Coulson could have a nice drink with Martian Manhunter and Superman, Fitz could become BFFs with the Flash, and Green Lantern could stand around criticising their treatment of aliens. It'd be GREAT.

17. Pair 2 characters in 1 that would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple.

Barry/Leonard Snart. Apart from the whole "crime stopping/causing thing" they actually have a surprising amount in common, really!

18. Has 5 inspired you in any way?

I've written a lot more crack since I've started watching it. SO...

19. Overall, which show has a better cast, 2 or 4?

2. Definitely 2.

20. Which has better theme music, 3 or 5?

Oh boy, do I feel you about Iris... it's a shame that the writers don't seem to know what to do with her. All the bullshit romance drama with Barry feels really tacky considering she's in a stable relationship and living with her boyfriend? Then again "bullshit romance drama" is a staple of about every CW show...

It's really a pity! Because otherwise The Flash is my favourite show on at the moment, and yet I wince every time the whole relationship thing comes up. I wish that they'd just let them be awesome BFFs instead. It'd lead to less wincing, and also probably to Iris becoming a better character as a result.

It also slightly creeps me out that everybody seems cool with the idea of them dating. I mean, I ship a few pseudo-incest pairings - but usually on the understanding that they're slightly messed up, and would probably/DO get odd reactions from the other characters. With The Flash everybody appears to be cool going "yeah, Barry, date your adoptive sister who is happily with another guy!" And it's just like ??? IS LITERALLY NOBODY GOING TO HAVE A SLIGHTLY FREAKED REACTION TO THIS? NOT EVEN JOE?

Yeah, I'd be fine with Barry still being in love with her, but damn, even if he thinks she might return his feelings, what kind of awful person would try to pursuit it when she's already got a boyfriend?! It makes Barry look unnecessary bad when he's otherwise such a good guy, it feels so off...

And heh, Joe took Barry in when he was ~10 (so the Westermarck effect doesn't apply) and he was already crushing on Iris, so I guess living with her for the following ten years just made it worse for him. I think most characters don't really see them as siblings (Joe included), more as close friends? So it's more like "they lived together as teenagers" than "they're brother and sister"? IDK that's how I perceive it, nobody seems to really treat them as sibs.

Yeah, that too! I mean, it just keeps making him seem so out of character. Especially since Iris seems fairly happy with Eddie! I dunno, it just seems - at least lately - like he wants her to put his feelings ahead of her own. Which is just a complete contrast with Barry usually, who usually seems to put pretty much everybody (even his rogues, sometimes!) above himself.

Hm, I suppose. It just seems a little odd that literally nobody - not even random strangers, not even Linda! - has found it a tiny bit strange. IDK. It may be because they still regularly show Barry and Joe as basically father and son? And I find it a bit weird that they're still trying to have it both ways. And, more than that, seem totally oblivious to the implications of having it both ways.

I mean, oddly enough I think I'd be cooler with it if they acknowledged the whole thing as a tiny bit off. As opposed to just shoving this TOTALLY HEALTHY, TOTALLY EPIC romance on us all the time.

(It also doesn't help that I've heard fairly unpleasant things about several Iris/Barry shippers.)

My fear is that they're setting up in a way that will end up with Iris admitting her feelings for Barry/possibly ditching Eddie and it being okay because Eddie becomes a villain :| I really can't see any other way they're going to turn Eddie into Cobalt Blue, Iris cheating on him would probably be the only thing that could make him really hate Barry?

LOL yeah, other than Joe being a little "do you realize this is kinda weird" a couple of times, everybody is so chill about it... it would be hilarious if some (new?) character found out about it and was like THIS IS SO WEIRD while everybody else is so chill about it and they don't understand why he finds it weird, haha.

(Oh god, what happened? Other than a weird run-in with some stranger on Twitter who got pissy at me for shipping Ray/Felicity instead of Ollie/Felicity I managed to keep away from the crazy shippers, so far...)
Mar. 29th, 2015 05:24 pm (UTC)
Yeah, especially after the last episode. :/ And, I dunno, that just seems... Wrong for so many reasons. It's a really lazy motive, it's out of character for all of them and it sort of messes up the whole heroic thing that Barry has going on. I mean, it's not murdering people-bad - but I'm probably going to find it a bit harder to like Barry if he messes up his best friend's relationship in the worst possible way.

Hah, that would be great! :D Or, I dunno, one of the Arrow people coming in and going "UH YOU GUYS." I mean, I'm not asking for any drama - PLEASE NO MORE DRAMA - but at least SOME awkward side-eyeing would be pretty great.

(Thankfully I haven't ran into any crazy shippers myself, but one of the tumblrs (one for Barry/Caitlin) I check occasionally has got a few messages from people going "IRIS/BARRY IS BETTER BECAUSE IT'S CANON AND YOU'RE DELUSIONAL" which is all kinds of... PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED TO SHIP WHATEVER THEY LIKE, YOU KNOW?)

I feel like you gotta choose Data for that, yeah :)

Mar. 30th, 2015 08:22 am (UTC)
All of the characters in Star Trek: TNG are great, but Data is probably the best and gets the most to do. Unlike poor Geordi, who would probably be my favourite otherwise but is relegated to technobabble and the occasional godawful romantic episode. :(

I KIND OF WANT IT NOW. I can actually see it going fairly well. ^^ And, like, I'm pretty sure that everybody - besides Batman - would give Skye a big hug, WHICH IS WHAT I WANT.
