Hm...

Beverly Crusher?

a. My favorite thing about that character: how she's both really nice and really badass.
b. My least favorite thing about that character: she can frequently get quite preachy when an episode focuses around her? Which would be fine, but I generally tend to disagree with her.
c. One person I would ship them with in their own 'verse: Troi, maybe?
d. One crossover ship for them I think would be neat: ummmmmm. She could maybe run off with Leslie Thompkins, from various Batman stuff?
e. One crossover universe for them I think would be even neater: uhhhhhh. Harry Potter! She could be a badass Ravenclaw!
f. Their ship from hell: I... Don't really ship her and Picard? Not how the show did it, at any rate.
g. Their song: I'm your Man - Patricia O'Callaghan
h. The title of their biography or autobiography: "Doctoring in Space: the Medical Frontier"
i. The last bad dream they had: Wesley running off with a creepy guy who calls himself the Traveller after they visit the planet of Native American stereotypes- OH WAIT THAT WAS AN ACTUAL EPISODE WHOOPS >:((
j. How they're gonna shuffle off the mortal coil, if they haven't already: at the age of 100, probably from some sort of weird alien disease.

... Why am I cackling so hard at the Wes comment? Wow.

Also, I agree with you on how preachy she could get randomly, which was just like 'REALLY?' half the time. (I did hear that apparently Gates exploded at someone on set once for making Beverly so damn whingy in one episode... which makes me laugh a little too hard, tiny, cute Gates getting all mad... I'd love to see footage.)

As much as I love TNG, I think the actresses generally got quite a bad deal out of it. I know Gates got limited by the scripts a lot, and poor Marina Sirtis is a fantastic actress given very little to do. It's unfortunate, really. :/

They also totally screwed Michelle Forbes when she was on as Ro too... no wonder she didn't go back for DS9.

Gates and Marina though... god bless them, they took the fame they had and RAN with it, doing what they loved on other shows and even now they love when the fans show the love for Deanna and Beverly.

The Brigadier!
doreyg
Jul. 31st, 2015 03:03 pm (UTC)
a. My favorite thing about that character: oh, man, I have to pick just one thing? His moustache, quickly followed up by how loyal he is to his friends (quickly followed up by PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM :D).
b. My least favorite thing about that character: ...Apart from the whole "blowing up the Silurians" bit. That was kind of jerky, bad Brigadier.
c. One person I would ship them with in their own 'verse: Liz!
d. One crossover ship for them I think would be neat: I...Honestly don't know. I'm generally not very good with crossover ships, unfortunately! I think he and Picard would probably get along reasonably well, though.
e. One crossover universe for them I think would be even neater: I'd really like to see him in Blake's 7. Not because he'd fit particularly well, but because he'd be so HORRIFIED by everything. It'd be great! :DD
f. Their ship from hell: Hm, I'm not sure I have terribly strong opinions on that to be honest. Maybe the Brig/Sarah or the Brig/Harry. Although those aren't particularly hellish, or really in existence.
g. Their song: Super Trouper - ABBA. Because it amuses me. ^^
h. The title of their biography or autobiography: "Lethbridge-Stewart, a Man on the Edge." Nobody, not even the author, is entirely what he was on the edge of, but everybody agreed that it seemed to fit.
i. The last bad dream they had: I'm tempted to say that the Brig terrifies all bad dreams into submission, but I suspect that it was actually about the people he cares for getting terrorised by aliens in various ways.
j. How they're gonna shuffle off the mortal coil, if they haven't already): ;;

The Brig is truly awesome! *nods*

As to his hellish ship, I rather suspect he wouldn't be keen on Brig/Doctor. I don't think he'd be cut out for a relationship where his OH would probably move the house/TARDIS every day, and he'd be like, "Doctor, how am I supposed to get to my office from 18th C Mars?" And the Doctor would be unable to understand why he would want to, and the Brig would spend his whole life with that expression on his face.

Probably also he would not be happy with the Master or any other villain. But at least the Master would be more polite about stuff.

Sarah or Harry seems perfectly natural in comparison.

Much better ship him with Liz, yes! ;-)

Oh! Well, if it's HIS hellish ship then that makes a whole world of difference! Yes, I can't see the Brig/The Doctor working out at all well, as amusing as him making the same put upon face for 50-odd years would be. ^^

Of course, it could be worse. He could somehow end up dating a dalek...

Barry Allen
doreyg
Aug. 1st, 2015 08:10 am (UTC)
A. My favorite thing about that character: he's so nice! I approve of super nice characters being nice. :DD
b. My least favorite thing about that character: uhhhhhhh his repeated attempts to steal Iris from Eddie got old pretty fast, but then that was pretty OOC anyway in my opinion. SO.
c. One person I would ship them with in their own 'verse: Barry/ALL THE ROGUES :DDDD
d. One crossover ship for them I think would be neat: I... Hm. Barry/Scott Lang from Ant-Man could be cool, but I'm not sure if that's mainly as buddies.
e. One crossover universe for them I think would be even neater: Avatar: The Last Airbender universe could be pretty cool!
f. Their ship from hell: don't get me started on how awful Barry/Iris is.
g. Their song: Don't Stop me Now - Queen
h. The title of their biography or autobiography: Run Fast: the Barry Allen Story
i. The last bad dream they had: something involving Grodd, probably
j. How they're gonna shuffle off the mortal coil, if they haven't already: saving everybody in a burst of speed seems likely! And then sacrificing himself along the way. ;;

I think they'd have so much fun running around together! They could be awesome besties, and it'd be great. ^^

And I really can't help writing him as absolutely adorable. It seems true to the show, after all! :D

Odysseus or Hector?

Ody!
a. My favorite thing about that character: his loyalty, especially to Penny.
b. My least favorite thing about that character: his rather loose interpretation of marital loyalty, at times.
c. One person I would ship them with in their own 'verse: one person? Penny/Ody.
d. One crossover ship for them I think would be neat: ummmmmmmmmm I don't know. Maybe Steve, from the MCU?
e. One crossover universe for them I think would be even neater: the MCU! He could be a superhero with slightly wonky powers...
f. Their ship from hell: Ody/Calypso
g. Their song: A Thousand Miles - Vanessa Coulton
h. The title of their biography or autobiography: The Odyssey :P
i. The last bad dream they had: that he was on a boat again, still many years from home.
j. How they're gonna shuffle off the mortal coil, if they haven't already: in his bed, surrounded by many loving grandchildren.

Re: Ody!
He would be the best slightly-off-kilter superhero. He'd teleport people 500miles east or west of where he intended and they'd have to make their way home, lol :D

Hal Jordan!
a. My favorite thing about that character: it's totally the grey bits in his hair :D (and also the amount of willpower and determination that he has, THAT'S PRETTY GREAT)
b. My least favorite thing about that character: I love you, Hal, but for the love of god COMMIT TO SOMETHING FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE
c. One person I would ship them with in their own 'verse: Thaal Sinestro. Although, let's be honest, I'd quite happily ship him with everybody
d. One crossover ship for them I think would be neat: Darcy Uhhhhhhh Edward Kenway from Assassin's Creed IV seems to have a lot of the same stuff going on, so they can hang out and be jerks with hearts of gold together?
e. One crossover universe for them I think would be even neater: Hal would have the time of his life in the Pacific Rim universe let's be real.
f. Their ship from hell: FOR HIM PROBABLY SINESTRO (;;) for me uhhhhhhhhhhh I don't know. One of the Guardians? That just made me wince in horror so let's go for that.
g. Their song: Venus - Lady Gaga
h. The title of their biography or autobiography: SPACE COPS!: a True Story by Hal Jordan
i. The last bad dream they had: something related to Parallax and/or Sinestro
j. How they're gonna shuffle off the mortal coil, if they haven't already: he's done it a few times, I think, but let's say SPACE EXPLOSION. Because I like putting the word space in front of cool things. :D

Re: Hal Jordan!
The gray/white temples are the hottest thing ever and I went so crazy when he started dying his hair again ughhh *shakes fist at Hal*

LOL HAL/DARCY he does have a questionable taste in girlfriends, and a twenty year gap isn't even the worse he's done... (also I just googled Edward Kenway and woah man *furiously fans self*)

aaaand now I'm craving a DCU Pacific Rim AU... oh, the possibilities...

Re: Hal Jordan!
AFTER SHIPPING A PAIRING WITH A 60-ODD YEAR AGE DIFFERENCE I NOW REGARD TWENTY YEARS AS PIDDLING. << and yeah, I've been watching P play through AC4 and Edward is a lot of fun. He's such a dick! But keeps failing at being a dick because he keeps wanting to be nice to people and stuff. Which is a fun combination. ^^

I LOVE PACIFIC RIM AUS. And they could work for DC so wellllll. I mean, I can think of so many characters who would fit!

doreyg
Aug. 4th, 2015 07:56 pm (UTC)
Unfortunately I haven't watched that much Voyager! But I can definitely do Sam. :)

a. My favorite thing about that character: his loyalty. He's exactly the kind of friend that Steve needs, and exactly the kind of person who should be an Avenger
b. My least favorite thing about that character: uhhhhhhh I am honestly not sure. I suppose I wish he was a bit more of his own person, in the movies? But I think he's getting there!
c. One person I would ship them with in their own 'verse: Steve!
d. One crossover ship for them I think would be neat: hmmmmmmm. Sam/John Stewart or Sam/Diana (both from Justice League) could be interesting. They'd provide an interesting balance to each other, I think.
e. One crossover universe for them I think would be even neater: but, then, Sam in the Justice League universe would be pretty awesome overall. That, or Star Trek!
f. Their ship from hell: uhhhhhhhhh Sam/Red Skull? *Shudder*
g. Their song: Come Fly With Me - Frank Sinatra
h. The title of their biography or autobiography: Wingman: The Falcon Story
i. The last bad dream they had: probably something about his time as a soldier, alas :(
j. How they're gonna shuffle off the mortal coil, if they haven't already: probably doing something heroic, along the lines of saving his teammates

I would have never thought of Sam/John, but now... I really, really like the idea. I could definitely ship that!
And crossover with Star Trek would have been awesome!

I love the title of the biography! :D

I've never really thought of it before, either, but now I am I think it could be really awesome! They both have a quite similar outlook on life, and could both balance out each other's excesses quite well. :D

And thank you!
